Sleep makes us feel better, but its important to go beyond it. Just enhancing our mood or removing under-eye dark circles is not enough. Adequate sleep is the key to a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, here I share some benefits of sleep.

  • Memory booster
During sleep you actually strengthen memories.
  • Live longer
Less than five hours or more than six and a half hours of sleep per night affects our quality of life as well as span of life.
  • Delay aging
People who get less sleep six or fewer hours a night have higher chances of premature aging.
  • Boost creativity
Get a good night’s sleep before getting out with your creativity be it with paintbrushes or the pen. It may result in you creating more as well.
  • Be a winner
If you are a sportsperson, sleep be the one simple way to improve your performance.
  • Weigh right
If you are thinking about going on a diet, you should plan an earlier bedtime too, as lack of sleep ends up in bloating you.
  • Defy depression
A lack of sleep can contribute to depression. A good night’s sleep can really help a moody person decrease his anxiety. One get more emotionally stable with good sleep.

Goodbye Winter, Welcome Spring

The changing season affects our skin the most. Our skin is very delicate, and is always exposed to environmental changes and pollution. During winter we tend to become more dehydrated, our skin feels dry. While, with the approaching spring and summer, we need to start taking care of our sunburn, hyper-pigmentation as well as oil and sebum secretion. Spring brings a sudden mix of warmer winds and sunnier days than Winter, taking care of skin should begin with understanding the season change.

End winter with supple skin:
  • Use a SPF 365 days a year, the sun is never off-duty. During winter, even though we can't feel the heat of the sun, the UVA and UVB rays prevails and they are quiet damaging.
  • Avoid hot water and use lukewarm water instead. We may crave for a hot shower in winter, but that results in drying out our skin even more.
  • Stay hydrated. The cold weather makes us feel thirsty, but our skin craves for the hydration as much as in the summer.
  • Exfoliate twice a week. This helps in getting rid of the built up dry and flaky skin. Though moisturization is the next step to be followed to keep dryness at bay.
  • Use oil-based moisturizers. They will keep your skin keep soft and supple for a longer period of time than that of the water based and gel based products.
  • Avoid topical medication, as they seem to dry out the skin even more.

Prep for spring:
  • Using SPF is a compulsion. Start using at least SPF 40 or above to protect skin from sunspots and hyper pigmentation.
  • Balance oils. Instead of heavy oil based products, start using gel based moisturiser. This will help to balance the oil and sebum level of our skin.
  • Mask is a relief. An oatmeal mask or rice mask is the way outIt refreshens as well as nourishes the facial skin from winter torture.
  • Swap from body butters to lotions: It may also be time to switch up your lotions. No matter the type of skin you have, everyone must wear a moisturizer. Use light moisturizers for oily skin or creamier versions for dry skin
  • Tune up toners. It cleanses the left over dirt or makeup on the skin, helping the skin breathe. It also closes the pores reducing the amount of oil secretion and chances of breakout.

Sivanna Colors Summer Gradually Compact – Review

Hey guys!

Today I'm gonna review Summer gradually Compact from Sivaana Colors! I was so much tempted to have the palette after seeing it on Flipkart and couldn’t wait to try it out when I received mine from the same!

Sivanna Colors Summer Gradually Compact – Review

The palette comes in a plastic packaging which is black in colour with a see-through piece where we can look at the eye shadow colours . Despite plastic packaging, it feels quite sturdy and travel friendly. The lid does not contain a mirror. The blush part comes out as a slider from beneath the eye shadow palette. It also carries a blush brush.

The range has got 8 palettes, so it may confuse some with their availability of colours  and to be honest, I too was a little confused before buying. Since this is a new brand, I was not ready to spend huge bucks as I was not really sure about the quality of products that they come up with. And it turned out **AWESOME**.

Price : Rs.300 for 20gm

I really cannot mention the ingredient details because I myself don’t know if it is written on the carton of the product. Everything written on the carton is in Thai so… Pardon!

The palette which I got from the range is no.8. Basically the palette has got super pigmented and shimmery eye shadows and blushes(not sheer).

Eye shadows

There are eight eye shadows in the palette. The texture of the shadows is slightly on the creamier side. It's too silky and not over powdery. It has got good pigmentation, but fades if not used with primer. I would recommend using either  a sponge applicator or eye shadow applicator brush. I have used wet sponge applicator and ended up with super metallic finish. They are super pigmented plus shimmery, hence take a little more effort on both application and blending.  These are not for very long wear, if doing so one may need touch ups. I get about 3-4 hours or so of wear with a little bit of creasing.
While I do love the shades, the application is a little fussy and takes some time to get the shadow blended on your eyelid and also the problem of fall outs.

I'll swatch all colours for you guys! The colours hold no names.

Can you spot the difference between the two whites??
They are different! One has got gold glitters and the other has got silver glitters.

Blushes

There are two blushes in the palette but both are of the same colour. The texture of the blush is not too silky and slightly on the drier side. The blushes are pigment-rich, they stay quite long on the skin. The blush is a bright pink shade which adds a lovely healthy flush to the cheeks.

I would recommend using a stippling brush or a fan brush to avoid going overboard with the color. I have ended up with overdone cheeks with these blushes a couple of times so it's best to use the right tools for application. Because they are quite pigmented, they make take a little more work for blending as compared to sheerer blushes. Its best to use a very light hand while applying these blushes as a little goes a long way.
While I do love the shades and how long wearing they are, it takes some time to get used to the application. These also need a powdery base to blend perfectly so make sure to use a setting powder after foundation to ensure that they blend smoothly.
